Larry,
When I lived in Seguin--just outside San Antonio--the same thing happened to
my corn. Well--it took some heavy wind to help it!! I think the reason why
is that we built synthetically light soil within square foot beds, and the
normal heavier loam or loam clay found in corn fields and large gardens
supports the top heavy corn stalks better. I found that mounding dirt
around each stalk helped. I mounded dirt about six inches. It didn't hurt
the stalks.
