I love to cook & I enjoy gardening - my first love is "putting up" with
canning.  Maybe it's because I was brought up by my grandmother (who grew up
during the depression), but there's nothing quite as satisfying as
stockpiling food.  (And you can never have enough pickles!)  Of course,
having 4 kids makes it a sensible alternative.
An interesting situation happened the other day.  A couple of years ago, I
took over our local Garden Club newsletter as the editor.  I ended up
revamping the newsletter, and some of my ideas have come and gone.
I instituted a "cook's corner", which are articles on food with a mainly
vegetarian/vegetable flair.  I had not heard any feedback regarding the
column, and I was seriously considering yanking it (it can be difficult
getting vegetable articles), when one of the members said to me that it was
the first thing he looked at in the newsletter.  Made my day!
Anyway, anybody out there interested in discussing further vege cooking I'd
like to hear from them!
