Well, I do a little programming, and have started work on a system. I won't
be done for a long while, but wanted to share some of the things I hope to
include.

Of course it should do garden layout, and I have a setup that will predict
the movement of shade over the season. It can use some of the same objects
to do sprinkler/soaker layout so I will probably add that too.

Some of the things that have been discussed such as Companion planting and
Rotation Planting can be easily added, but I wonder if it might not be
better to have those as editable databases on the side. Everytime I see a
list on things like that I find that they either add to, or disagree with
what I already have. So no matter how good the original data, I would want
to be able to adapt it to suit new information, or unusual circumstances.

My main thrust is a spin-off of the Grocery Shopping program I am designing.
I want each square or group of squares to gather a journal of past use that
pops up whenever I select that square. Then I can use a prediction
estimation to suggest future use of the square based on the databases above.
I can see this happening, but I don't have the framework for it yet.

So far I have set myself about 12 years worth of work at the pace I seem to
go. I end up programming about 2 or 3 hours a week. Hard to make much
progress that way, but I just don't have the desire to hammer away at it
like I could a dozen years ago...
