Hi, all.
I responded privately to Mary.  I'm another Mary in Maryland, also in the DC suburbs - near the University of Maryland.  I've been square foot gardening for about 3 years after having read about it OG magazine and then seeing Mel at the Philadelphia Flower Show (and coming home with his tapes).  I've been gardening organically for around 10 years - first in Texas and now here.  My square foot beds are not conventional - I converted my three 20 by 5 foot raised beds into square feet.  I mark mine off with string (I'm a little compulsive)
