I used two sonic devices last year.  Result was that i got the mole
catcher in.  These devices are about twenty pounds - thirty uS dollars
each in Britain.  Money is better spent on professional trappers.  Apart
from stricnine that works well, my trapper says the scissor traps are
best.  The 'half barrel' ones he says are a waste of time.  He's good. 
His record is eighteen moles caught in one run.  And according to the
books these are solitary animals! 

I have done a lot of research into moles, and i have tried lots of other
people's ideas of getting rid of them.  

I got a book on them.  I know for example their sleep pattern ties in
with those of worms - their staple diet and all that.  They have a sense
of smell like a bloodhound, thereby making trapping difficult unless one
rarely washes and so on (you leave your smell on the trap and they
burrow UNDER the trap).  I really have other things to occupy my life as
i am sure most of the rest of us do than research these creatures.  

By the way, the internet came up with all sorts of things ranging from
the ridiculous to the sublime.  They included mousetraps with peanut
butter as bait (lots of differnt baits - no success), to a rigging up a
motor car exhaust to fume the devils out (limited success) and yes
dynamite (couldn't get any . . ).


Bottom line.  Stop the heartache, get the mole catcher in at first sign.
