Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Sheryl, hi, incase no one else asks, I sure would like to learn how to make
that fish emulsion you mentioned--I find it a little expensive around my area
and having used it on house plants years ago, I have often wanted to use it
in the garden. Also has anyone any good plans for systems for making manure
tea. I brought home a large metal barrel probably 18 years ago to make one,
but couldn't convince sugar bear that it was a good thing to do. And now I
don't know what had been in it or whether I had knowledge enough about toxic
materials to care at that time. I think OG had an article about securing a
screen of some kind at some point above a spicket that you put near the
bottom of the barrel and just through in the manure and added water, letting
it drip through like a coffee maker(gross illusion, sorry bout that). If
anyone knows that plan or a better one I'd love to hear about them. I
appreciated the tips on chickens--think I'll do it. Especially after talking
to a computer systems analyst today over dutch ovens in a local
farm/surplus/camping/ survivalist/ cowboy/ fish-sport/ etc store and he told
me his y2k concerns. Not to end on a downer--after being uncerimonially
dumped on (snow)last week after beautiful weather for over a week,(we had
been happily redoing garden beds and planting)I discovered little tiny
pansies comming up around my daffies and tulips. Somewhat miraculous to me
since I thought a killed them off by allowing the bigges nasurtums I ever saw
to shade them out. Now isn't that a good part of why we do this--the
amazement of the unexpected blessings of working God's soil. BTW in you
mind--correct my spelling where necessary(shorthand and social work ruined it
and my signiture. May you always have a good garden hat and a gentle breeze.
