Rich,
I've done this for about 5 years now, yup, 5 years on the same package of
lettuce seeds. All I do is put them in the ground. Haven't any results as
of yet this year, I just planted some seeds this Easter weekend. I'll let
you know. The only suggestion I'd give you is maybe soak the seeds in some
water for a day before planting.
I have sweet peas coming up, I planted 8 squares in two blocks, I put clear
plastic over one block and left the other one to nature. The seeds under the
clear plastic came up first, all are uncovered and doing fine. The ones
under the plastic are a bit further along.
My wife was in a newly stocked garden area of a local department store this
February and picked up some bulbs, I read the directions and they said to
plant in the fall, well I put them in the refrigerator for 6 weeks and
planted them Sunday too, my experiment for this year.
