If you want to purchase fish meal or kelp meal, don't go to the garden
store; try the feed store instead. You can buy 50-lb. bags much more
cheaply there (if they don't have it, they can order it). It's a pricey
initial investment for so much, but you can split the cost with a
friend, or know that you won't have to buy more for a long time!
I also buy cottonseed meal, alfalfa pellets and calf manna through the
feed store for fertilizer and to keep the worms happy! I learned about
these things from a "Building Healthy Soil" class at the local botanic
gardens.
