Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hi Neale and all,
During the late winter and early spring, I read so many garden catalogs, and
boards, that I don't remember where I read this, but, to keep the squirrels
and raccoons from getting your corn, someone suggested using straping tape,
and wrapping it around the stalk, at about the same level as the top of the
ear of corn, and then, wrapping the same strip of tape around the tip of the
ear of corn a couple of times. This way, the squirrels and raccoons can't
"peel" the corn to get at it, and I assume it would help with the crows too.
I'll see if I can look thru some of the catalogs tonight, and get the exact
details, and give credit where credit is due.....but, until then, maybe this
idea will help. Wherever it was that I read it, they swore it worked, so, I
was going to give it a try this year since the squirrels use the fence that
borders my garden as a freeway, and they consider my garden a "fast food"
exit! :o)
