Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hi Lisa!
Greetings from zone 5 Montreal!
When I had a 20' x 10' community garden plot, I divided it into two 4.5 foot
by 20 ft beds, with a one foot path down the middle, which I nicknamed the
Tallardy Trench after Tom Tallardy over on Compuserve, because many
compostables were placed in the trench for trampling (cheaper than a
shredder...:-)
In Cash from Square Foot Gardening, Mel says that the longer beds are more
economical, and I agree....
You are your own yardstick for how wide to make your beds, and how long to
let them run. I found the twenty foot length very practical, and packed food
and flowers into every inch of space....
Good gardening,
Frank
