careful with ele wires and animals

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

I've had a low wire around a hog pasture and it was about a foot inside the
main hog fence itself. I lost an elderly cat and 'toasted' another one when
they were passing through the fences and touched both at the same time.
Cats are dumb and will turn and bite the fence back, and I had to get a
great jolt to get them out of it as it wouldn't turn loose. The older cat's
heart simply gave out from the shock. This wasn't a very high volt system
either. So if the cats are some of your own or not feral ones you don't
mind losing, best to avoid the ele fencing if possible.
My cats all think the litter boxes I've dug for them are much better than
the ones they dig themselves so I dug one I leave alone bare and just let
them have their own garden site to poop in. Moles seem to avoid the ground
that cats habituate so it's not all bad. Just dig carefully. <gG>
