Not being familiar with the workings of the listbot, since I post
infrequently, I simply wanted to know that my message had arrived at the
list server. I expected the server to return a receipt. I had no idea
that the request for a return receipt would be passed on to the readers. I
apologize for any inconvenience.

The Email my employer uses (Outlook) returns a receipt when requested
without even notifying the recipient. Of course, doing things without
notifying users is standard operating procedure for Microsoft. Evidently
Margaret has an Email program that asks her permission before sending a
return receipt.

My experience may benefit others using this list. First, my mailbox was
flooded with return receipts from people who read the post, a totally
unexpected result. Second, five or six people are using an Email program
that returns a receipt containing binary information which my version of
Eudora cannot handle. It would begin downloading the message, get an
error, and quit. It took me over a week to figure out an alternate way to
access and delete these messages and during that time I copuld not read any
Email at home. So I would advise anyone tempted to request a return
receipt with a post to the list -- don't do it!
