Frank- Thanks for the reference. Actually I am a visual
guy and the picture is worth a thousand words to me... lol! I will try that next
time.
One question- the paragraph under the picture says to lay two
spars (poles) one way and the third the other way. After making the clove
hitches and turnings, do we twist the odd pole over to be in line with the first
two poles or have I got it wrong? Does that make it tighter and stiffer? I was
thinking I would just lash the poles together without having to twist one or two
of them.

To tie a teepee the classic method is a
lashing, see any good Scout handbook, if not recent then one of the older
ones will have it.

used old scrunchies and those soft stretchy hait elastics to tie
up
the tops of my teepees, and they haven't moved once
!
