Dear List Members: This was my first year using raised beds. I really enjoy gardening this way. I've been enjoying some great vegetables over the last few weeks. My question is this....I thought I read Mel's book pretty well about planting, but it seems like I have a lot of wasted space. I planted 1 whole row of squares with bush beans. They are over running the next row, so I can't plant anything there. I have tried to tie them up, but they still hang all over the second row. I have the same problem in my second bed. I planted a row of cukes and thought I did a good job of stringing them up.....my tomato plants are in the same bed. The two rows in between are useless...... Can anyone suggest how I should have planted so all rows are usable? I have the basic stuff in the beds....cukes, tomatoes, hot peppers, pea pods, green beans, radish, lettuce, carrot, scallion, basil. Thanks for your help. Toni Zone 5 PS....those of you interested in swapping recipes could send out or request recipes backchannel....just make a list of people wanting to do that. I am on two food recipe lists....foodwine and eat-l which you could also join. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe, send to: listserv@umslvma.umsl.edu the body message: unsubscribe sqft See http://www.umsl.edu/~silvest/garden/sqft.html for archive, FAQ and more.
