The red plastic mulch does seem to help--I've got tons of peppers this summer and lots of cherry tomatoes--though most of my larger tomatoes are taking FOREVER to ripen! The red plastic does NOT seem to be much of a mulch, though. I've had to surround it with black plastic! Happy Gardening!
