Re: Harvesting Basil

I whack the basil down to 6" tall as soon as I see the flower buds, if I
start it in the winter and put it out after the last frost I can get
about 5 harvests this way before the first frost. It doesn't do so well
after it flowers because it puts all it's energy into seed production. I
have several ways of dealing with the basil- e-mail me privately to talk
more about that??? The cilantro is going to seed, the seeds are called
coriander and useful too but as with the basil, foliage quality declines
after flowering so pinch the flower head off until they just have time to
make their seeds before the frosts, or until you have had enough
