Add baking soda to compost?

Hi!

Before I do something that seems logical (to me!) I thought I'd ask.
Here goes...

I cold compost to covert my yard's abundant leaves into humus for my SQFT
garden with success.  But would adding baking soda (Arm & Hammer)  speed
up the process by changing the ph?
