I suggest trimming leaves from the bottom up. I leave a few leaves near the
tomatoes to prevent sunburn on the tomatoes. Within a week my green tomatoes
ripen up quickly when previously they had been green for a long long time. I
read this method in a Rodale Organic Gardening book and have been very
pleased with the results.
