That is how I understand it too (yes to all 3 questions).  In our hot desert
sun 4-6 weeks is long
enough but should probably be longer elsewhere.  Also, we would wait until
after solarizing before adding more compost because it would disappear
during solarization in our alkaline soil.    Olin Miller
