school gardens

Hi all!
I am a teacher for gifted and for school-wide enrichment at Leeds Elementary School in Leeds, AL.  We have been gardening for over 5 years BUT not square foot gardening.  In the past we have students plant the seasonal color around the school.  We have had a butterfly/herb garden. We also have a farm garden with cotton, tomatoes, broom & corn and a native american garden with beans grrowing around the corn and squash growing our from the base of the corn.
We are almost finished putting in 17 3' X 3' X 1' raised beds.  We will be using the square foot spacing, etc., but our gardens will have themes.  One second grade class will have the Peter Rabbit garden, complete with a small fence and blue jacket caught under it.  We will have a Cereal Garden planted with crops raised to produce your mourning cereal, i.e., wheat, rice, corn, etc.  In addition to these gardens we will have 3 topiary animals, a  5' giraffe, a frog and a monkey that will hang in a tree.  These are all located in a courtyard area we have at our school.  We are going to be very busy this winter and spring with these gardens but everyone is so excited about them.  I will keep everyone updated and will try  to have pictures.  My school school web site is below but to date we have not included any gardening pictures.  We hope to soon.  I hope the link works.
