Please do *not* CC to this list!!!

The list owner has asked TWICE that people NOT use the CC field to send to
this list. It's a small request. And ignoring this simple requests causes
multiple posts to flood everyone's mail box.

I'm sorry to sound so grumpy, but this isn't rocket science and the
aggravation to others on the list from being careless is *far* more than
you might think. This list has 497 subscribers right now (did you have any
idea it was this big???). When you CC to the list and cause each
subscriber to get 6 extra copies of your message, you have sent ~3,000
*extra* copies of your message through the majordomo list server email
system and over the Internet, a really large waste of expensive resources.

Someone just posted:

>I am very sorry that I neglected to follow Melissa's warning not to use
>the "Reply" command. That is what creates the multiple messages. Enter
>the list address from your address book instead. Everyone on the list
>will get the message. Copy and Paste if you want to show the message that
>you are replying to. It is a little extra work but it will avoid wearing
>out your delete key.

You *can* use the Reply or ReplyToAll buttons, just be *sure* to edit the
To and CC lines so that you are only sending TO the list and *not* CCing
the list. I don't know of any email client that doesn't let you edit these
lines after it has automatically filled them when you click on Reply. I
usually click on ReplyToAll, then highlight and cut the list address (that
my mailer has put in the CC space) and paste it *over* the author's address
on the To line. This takes just a second, creates a reply email to go only
To the list, and quotes the email I am replying to with the author's name.

It's a bad habit to just hit "reply to all" and reply back to both the list
and the author anyway, all it does is clutter up the author's mailbox with
2 copies of your reply. Just because your email client offers to send to
both addresses doesn't mean you should do it! Your reply should either be
private (sent ONLY to the author) or public and thus sent only to the list.
Avoid falling into the lazy habit of replying to both because your email
client automatically fills in both for you, and you avoid the problem this
list is having at the same time.

Hope this hint helps everyone.

ObGardening. My corn is a flop. I only have a few ears, and they aren't
filling out well. I think my plot doesn't have enough sun and I didn't
enhance/enrich the soil enough and didn't fertilize enough. Oh well. The
tomatoes are growing great anyway!
