the circular rings sound like sunscald.  Hopefully someone else can
comment on the splitting.  My beefsteaks do this.  I thought it was just
normal for the variety.  I also think I read somewhere that splitting
can occur with watering problems.  The tomatoes are fine to eat.  Just
cut of the sunscald.  If you're having super hot weather and the plants
are in full sun all day with not much leaf cover shading the fruits, try
erecting a very light shade cloth during the hottest part of the day. 
Hope this helps.  I had sunscald problems when I was just training my
tomatoes to 1 leader up vertically.  I now either cage them or train
with 2 or 3 leaders to provide more leaf cover for the ripening fruit.
