Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
I've been reading the thread on BER and I have a related question. After
2-3 weeks of very hot and humid weather with little rain, almost 50% of my
tomatoes have begun either "splitting" their skins lengthwise, from top to
bottom or showing circular rings around the top of the tomato near the
stem. This is occurring in both green and various stages of ripe tomatoes.
I tried to water as needed during this spell and plants themselves look
healthy. Does anyone know if the heat caused this or another factor and
also whether or not it is okay to eat these tomatoes? Also, it *seems*
that the smaller tomatoes coming on are okay.
TIA,
Kristine, Zone 5b, SE Ohio
Where it was finally only 88 degrees yesterday :-}
