I'm in zone 6b and have 2 tater mounds in straw and one in dirt.  They were 
planted a little late and within a about a week of each other.  I'll let you 
know how they turn out whn I harvest them.  Not sure though, first time doin' 
spuds!  Hmmm... we'll see.
