Another Newcomer

Hello everyone
I joined some time ago but when I didn't receive any mail I figured the
list had stopped. I am so pleased to see that it hasn't. I live in
Melbourne, Australia where we are experiencing a very mild summer so far
and this is my first season of square foot gardening. We recently moved
into a new house and my husband built me some temporary beds because I just
couldn't wait to get started.
At the moment we are eating green beans, silver beet (swiss chard), red
beet, zucchinis, lots of different lettuces and sugar snap peas from the
garden and eagerly awaiting the first ripe tomatoes, cucumbers and sweet
corn. We also have thyme, nasturtiums, arugula, basil & chives along with
marigolds and allysum.
I have had many visitors comment on the appearance of the beds and many say
that they look so much prettier than the vegetable gardens they have.
We have now worked out the best spot for the permanent beds and have
started building those and now I am impatient to start planting again.
Today I am going to work out my autumn planting but I am hoping I will be
able to put in some more lettuces, tomatoes and another couple of zucchini
before then.
Hope these messages keep coming
Mel
