One right after another, in a row?
I had tomatoes 4' high do that. Birds like young beet
greens I think. But my money is on a pocket gopher.
They live alone except for a day @ 3 months to mate.
A brood of 1-2, when 3 months old. Their fur goes both ways.
Hose down the holw will work once in 4 tries.
Teeth like a tiny squirrel. Few diseases, underground.
Grab by back of neck like a kitten. Be a little quick.
In an aquarium (if the one you hosed up doesn't get
pneumonia and die, many will) with 4" of soil, they make a "hamster/antfarm."
I use supersoil, changed each 3 months.
They do not pee, and seem not to smell. Toss in scraps
from salads. Can eventually pet them, if you try often.
Seem dumb. Especially young ones. Love them...IN the house.
