>Canellini bean seeds
am wondering when is the best time to plant them.
Do I plant in the cooler weather or when it is warm?
I live in Central Florida.
Susan Seifert in zone 9
*I know little. The Ortho Book doesn't address this bean.
But there are remarkable similarities I find.
6-14 days to germinate.
All 1 1/2 - 2 " deep. Except Fava, 2 1/2".
WARM SOIL. Note, root rot is a spoiler.
May seemes central for Snap, bleeding into
April a bit, and June. Lima, a week later.
You could indoor start, but for warm soil,
perhaps a coldframe in place to warm it, a couple weeks earlier,
will be an important requirement. Black plastic
mulch may help. I still tend to start them inside,
using styrofoam cups, which I reuse.
I'd plant them in stages, too, in case the first set dies.
Do a quarter 'early.' Another quarter in 2 weeks,
the rest when they look good, afetr a week out.
IM very HO
Now, can you tell me a bit about the bean?
It's new to me.
Bill
