OT: Geraniums, Overwintering

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Okay, so there are no geraniums in my sq ft beds, but I do love them and was
hoping someone could help me out with some overwintering advice.

I've looked in my few flower type gardening books, to no avail. Usually I
just buy new ones each year, but I'm particularly fond of these -- fabulous
colors including a neon fuschia (honest!) -- and would love to overwinter
them. I know it can be done. I've also taken cuttings which are doing
nicely, but hey! I want it all. For me, there would be no such thing as *too
many* geraniums. :-)

I've been babying the parent plants all fall by bringing them in when our
several frosts hit. But I realize I can't do that and they probably need and
want a dormant period anyway, right?

So, can someone tell me the best way to overwinter them? I did see a piece
on Martha Stewart about taking them out of the soil completely and hanging
them upside down somewhere. That seems real scarey to me. And I don't think
I got (or caught) quite enough info to feel comfortable doing it even if it
is a good way to do it.

So, what's the best way to do this? Any help (ANY!) greatly appreciated.
