Sequoia Quinalt

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

>Bill, you said that you grow strawberries. Do you use the SF method? You
stated their names---were they junebearers, everbearers, day-neutrals, or
alpines?

Sequoia, which stands very tall
Quinalt, a 'regular' height

They are called a two-season. But I THINK elsewhere that
is sometimes called (semi-correctly, and has something
to do with climate I think) everbearing. Both run,
tho Sequoia is not supposed to much. The quinalt
almost seems to 'divide' more than run. Maybe
it's a very short run and I don't notice, so I
separate one away.

I try to furrow between to drain excess or to water
but also hose them sometimes. I use well composted
manure and a touch of fertilizer and get only some yield.
Berries may be OK or small. Or eaten and I'm not
sure it's birds. never see them. Have fence around,
but is 1 1/2 x 2 holes. I think it's not the
variety of plant but my care somehow.

 a SFG bed &
"pyramiding" that with 3 or 4 total beds that diminished in size going
up. Is that in the Horticulture article you mentioned, Chuck? Anybody
have a written source on that idea?

SF/SFG are terms I don't know. or acronyms anyway. the terrace
method is known for this. It has pluses and minuses. From the
top, it's still the same area. The roots have a tiny bit more
room. Can be aesthetic. like a strawberry 'jar' planter
with all it's pockets, which faces the sun? Or plant
lettuce on the "far side."
Bill
