"Park starts" Amazing so far

I decided to give these a try for seed starting this year. For those of you
not familar, these are styrofoam blocks about 4x6x3 inches with 18 dime to
nickel sized holes, the holes are filled with "peat plugs" pre dibbled. On
this past Sunday 1/30 I started several of these "blocks". Today, Thurs
02/03/00 I came home to find all 18 Tomato seeds sprouted, that's right 18
out of 18 in FOUR days. I have these setup as follows, one of the black
plastic trays which is about 12"x 20 with 4 of the Parks start blocks set in
their own trays inside. This tray is sitting on a ironing board in front of
a window. Each end of the tray is sitting on a thick book which elevates it
about 2 inches above the ironing board. In the gap between the ironing board
and the bottom of the black plastic tray I have placed a regular heating pad
turned on low, I have one of the clear plastic "dome" lids over the tray. I
also have other blocks with spinach and peppers which have not sprouted but
the spinach may be sprouted by tomorrow. I may be premature in praising
these blocks but so far so good. If interested these may be found at
