Janet and all,
Luckily I don't have any plans to leave town during the "seedling" season
but you're absolutely right concerning the moisture the seedlings need once
they removed from the dome. I use a large baster filled with the initial mix
of 1/4 teaspoon food to the gallon of water twice a day to "bottom" water
the 18 tomato seedlings in their trays. BTW I now have about a dozen pepper
seedlings up and some very difficult to sprout hot pepper (hot lemon)seed
may be up tomorrow. The only thing not up yet is the spinach plants. I am
very impressed with this sprouting method.
Charlie, wanting to work outside in the worse way.

At 09:48 PM 2/3/00 -0500, Charlie reported his good results, so far, with
Parks Starts.
I bought the system several years ago, and it does work well *if* you keep
the peat plugs moist at all times.
Leave town and let them get dry, however, and they turn into peat *bricks*
and all plant growth is throttled.
I found this out the hard way when my tomato sprouts grew too tall to
remain under the clear plastic (humidity-controlling) lid....
