Not true:>]. The lakes have the effect of lengthening the season at both ends.
Being a life long Clevelander, I know this for sure! You could expect a cooler
spring than inland from the lake, but the lake effect will only allow a cool
night, not a frost; where further from the lake there will be a frost. I usually
can count on an early May last frost. The trick is being a mile or two away from
the lake at most. At the other end of the season, we had roses blooming near
Lake Erie in Dec. 1998! The bad news of course is the lake effect that takes
place with cold arctic air over a warmer lake; look out in Bufallsno!!
