I don't know when you plan to move but you should be able to get a fall
cold weather crop. As Buffalo is close to the lake I would plan for zone 5
or one colder. That means next year you should think about buying
transplants unless you can put in grow lights. A solar greenhouse might
give you at least another month but unless you design and build it yourself
they can be pricey. You should have no trouble getting a good crop of
tomatoes peppers and such if you go transplants.
I live in Broome county which is on the northern PA boarder and I got a
decent crop of toms from seed last year. But again with Buffalo being so
close to the Lakes I would figure a later last frost maybe in middle may
possibly later. If you are unlucky enough to have a heavy clay soil don't
forget to plan on putting in plenty of dung and hay in the fall. You will
probably be to busy for a summer crop this year but the sooner you get the
horse or cow stuff the better off you will be.
