Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
I started my squash and basil indoors last year. I used the jiffy 7 type
peat pellets. The squash I transplanted when they had true leaves. It grows
quickly and those leaves are huge. The basil I let get a little bigger
before planting out. Both did well. actually last year only thing I did
not transplant was lettuce and other greens. Those all sprouted well and
grew for me simply broadcast in the area I wanted them to grow. My romaine
will be carefully planted 4 to a square this year. Cimarron was beautiful
but huge lol Oh and my marigolds were also simply sown in place. I found if
I transplanted small most plants did well. I did try growing some beans
from seeds planted in place but I had to come back later and plant
transplants in that area the beans never came up. :( I think our ground
stays cool too long for many warm weather plants. Starting them in side
than planting out allowed me to have beans, squash and even tomatoes in a
year NO ONE got ripe tomatoes LOL I got very lucky.
