This has got to be the most creative way and places I've ever heard of to
start seeds. Kudos to you, Cate, for being so creative and resourceful!

We have animals so I can't just start my seeds anywhere. The cats would
love to get their paws in all that loose soil. I start them in the bathroom
and in the walk-in closet where its warm, then transfer them to the cooler
basement. I don't have any way to hang the florescents so I prop them up on
canned vegetable cans and later move to spaghetti or larger cans. Sometimes
I need to put a board under the cans for the proper spacing of the
vegetables from the lights. I leave the food in the cans for weight so they
don't tip over.
I also spray them every other day with dilute chamomile tea to avoid damping
off.
