Kimberly-what sort of "place" did you make for your soaker hose? In building
some new boxes I am thinking about actually jigsawing out a little "v" for
them to rest in on the top of the bed or maybe even using a hole cutter bit
on my drill( can't remember what the dern thing is called ) placing the hole
2-3 inches from the top to thread the soaker thru.(pipe up folks!good
idea?Bad?) Last year the hoses went up and down then on the ground then up
and down in between the beds and borders and sheeshs what a tangle!-and even
though I tried to keep them staked in the fluffy soil- moving them around
while mowing or just picking veggies sometimes would dislodge them and the
whole ball of spaghetti would come unglued and disturb other plants.Am
thinking that I could anchor the soaker in the beds better somehow-saving
water and the trouble that happens when one unexpectedly pops up and then
you gotta put in back and put the mulch and plants back in place.Am
interested in what you were doing.
To the rest of the Gardeners-Am thinking( but don't quote me) of (gasp!)
reassembling my 4 existing beds to get more southern exposure and more
vertical space. Last year was my first year and I flew by the seat of my
overalls. I am building 4 more beds anyway - this would be the time to
redesign.........What do you all think? Better now than later?everything is
just bolted togther and it just (just?)means digging out all the lovely dirt
I made. Nothing in there .....Just moved all the pereneals and herbs that
were getting babysat in there for the fall and winter. Anybody go thru this
before? Thanks for your advice-Today was sunny and I transplanted azaleas and
some other flowers to make room for some more vegies in the back yard.Cold
rainy and no power for 6 hours yeasterday so very grateful for such a nice
day today.-Teri
