Dot, Don't pinch off until you have a set of true leaves. By that point you should be able to tell which will be the best. Then keep the sturdiest looking one -- thickest stem, not leggy, healthy color, etc. Use snips to cut the seedlings, don't pull. And you do have to destroy them, otherwise all plants in a given pot will be weak and leggy and not worth anything.
