New tomato seedlings

Hello, I have more silly questions about seedlings.  I've planted two or
three seeds per pot and now that they have all started to grow, when do I
"prick" off the ones that I won't keep and secondly, is it better to choose
the tall plant or the small plant to keep. I hate the thought of destroying
any ones that might be good.  From what I've read you should only keep one
good plant per pot.  Dot
