I've used paper towels and newspaper, but not food holding cardboard.
Dryer lint only from cotton towel loads (the only loads that give
appreciable lint, anyway, and other synthetics didn't seem like a
good idea). I would never ever, being a smoker myself, use tobacco
in a compost pile. I am not allowed to smoke anywhere near the
veggie garden because tomatoes and peppers are very susceptible
to tobacco mosaic virus. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wouldn't put it
in my compost pile anyway.
