Re: Okra spacing & tomato rotation

Would SOIL rotation work just as well as location rotation ? I have
limited space for tomatoes. I trellis, using Mel's trench method. Since I
remove the soil from a 12"x12"x48" trench during planting, can I replace
it with soil from another block where tomatoes have not been grown in
recent years. Would this provide the same protection from disease ?

I completely fill the trench. I container grow my plants quite tall
before transplanting to the soil, in order to provide deep roots. I use a
drip system for deep watering. The lateral root spread appears to stay
within the trench.
