I've heard that grow lights were unnecessary and that standard bulbs provided
a wide enough spectrum for growing. I have never used grow bulbs and have only
used 40 watt standard bulbs last year for seed starting (I used to buy
transplants), but, everything grew fantastic. I think it is important to use
fresh bulbs as the intensity and spectrum may suffer with time.
