I always thought beet seed was really a 'cluster' of many seeds, until very
recently, when (Monopoly)? or one of those hybrids came out as a
single/seeded type. And, those cold natured root crops just do best when
direct seeded. If you have any more seed, try planting some directly out in
the site.
I may be totally off on this, but I thought turnips, beets, carrots, etc,
just never do very well when you try to move them around.
