The grow light theme

Hello SQFT'ers,

You have convinced me to try starting plants under grow lights, I have a 2X4
foot light with out tubes some where in the basement and I'm going to buy some
tubes today.  Some of you have mentioned starting seeds in the basement, my
question is, do the lights generate enough heat to warm up the soil to cause
the seeds to germinate or do you supply addition heat???  My basement is
unheated, so I thought it would be too cold.

I've taken 3 digital pictures of my sqft garden, all it shows are the blocks,
how I have them arraigned and the vertical frames, someone e-mail me and I'll
send one to you and see if they are worth posting to the group.  Hope to be in
the chat room tonight.
