Re: Spacing for melons

We grow ours in 4' x 10' raised beds by planting transplants the we have started
in peat pots 1' in along the length of the bed, spacing 18" and allowing them to
trail to the ground.  We grow our muskmelons and small watermelons this way.  I
like to put coffee cans or plastic pails under the fruits to keep them off the
ground and give extra heat once they start sizing up and I select the fruits that
will be kept and prune off the excess.  Usually leave 2-3 fruits per plant unless
the plant looks stressed then reduce to one.  Deany, zone 4
