Pool grade DE is calcinated, I believe, and doesn't control pests, say the
books.
As to expense, I learned early on, when finding out the price of 5 gallon
aquariums was equal to that of ten gallon aquariums, that supply, demand,
and economies of scale are at work in the marketplace, and that pure
cynicism is not the only reason for a price difference.
I'd buy the DE product labelled for the pest I was after, just for the
record.
