Library & Ortho

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

>Hey Why don't you use the public library. Plenty of Good stuff there.

*THIS is a good point. I have two from the lib now, one is an interlib
book... both on mushrooms, as I'm doing a cram course.

Also a good way to evaluate a book if you're considering buying it..I'd have a
huge library if I had the bucks.

>And you're kidding with the ortho stuff right? Man those folks at ortho
are wack! See a bee in your yard get out the ortho!

*It is obvious, they have some amount of alterior motive.
I still say they serve as a generalist guide. They WERE common.
so many are about yardscape or bathrooms, few for plants are
left on the shelves. I have to call them about this to see why.
I also saw, use books from 2 diffeerent authors and publishers,
as well as one should be thick, and one thin. I do avoid almost
all chemical use. Safer Insecticial Soap, I don't count.
I buy bugs.

>Most libraries have inter-library loans now so if
your library doesn't have it it can generally find it

*And many are on the net. If yours isn't, someone's is.
For the most part, authors and subject won't differ.
I did notice mine wants $0.50 to hold a book via net,
while it's a free hold, if you call.

*My only problem witht the library nowadays,
is I have to remind the adults to shuddap,
as they are a poor example for the youngers.

As for Ortho being wacko... maybe. As in
"from the mouths of babes..." I take the good,
toss the rest, where ever I find it. You use Windows?
Same as Ortho. There're a lotta nuts out there,
who know a thing or two others don't. Is Mel an
Evangelistic Monk? No. Maybe a little... but he
sells a book touting a very un-new methodology.
He just said, "In other words..." Ortho books aren't
a bible. And I improve on thick car manuals often.

But I'm not here to win an arguement.
Just to say listen to everything. Even idiots
have good days. And knowledgeable folks, often want
to sell something also. Maybe Orto just got too far behind
on clean the world thinking. But WTO and Monsanto and
Clinton et. al., may soon make it worse than ever it was.

I am a cheap resource, as you are. If I can use 10% of
what you offer, why toss the rest because you're a nut
about something else?

Library. Good Advice.
Avoid Ortho? Just sections.
That would be like avoiding this site because someone
wants to use a round 5 gal bucket, instead of the square ones,
which most of us here are so strongly committed to.
