Re: [Hot Compost!] // Manures and other questions

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Tammy, you gave some great information there on compost. Brava to you. I
love to compost and have a garden tractor/mower that bins all my clippings.
When I have too many clippings and am running out of browns to mix with it I
take my old newspapers and shred them and mix with the greens. It takes a
bit to break down but I can say that after 2 years of composting ( that is
all the experience I have) I have some great compost. When I moved in
October 1999 I screened as much compost as I could and brought most of it
with me. After I arrived here I built a bed for my King Alfred tulips and
planted them in pure compost. They are starting to peek above ground now and
seem very happy and healthy. I have been sick with this nasty flu since
before the turning of the year and went into town yesterday to get some fence
staples and some 3/5 inch galvanized nails so I can build the beds for the
broccoli and cabbage. I am running out of bed building materials here and
can't afford to buy more at the present time so will do square foot on the
flat ground where I have to. I am really looking forward to my first year
here.

Keep growing
Lisa
