Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
>>Are there other configurations commonly used?
>Yes, basically I'd say there's nothing magical that I can see in 4 x 4. I
have a couple that are 4 x 4, but I think things like 3 or 4 by 6 - 10 or
even 12 make better use of the space. So I have a range of things.

I have arcs and triangles, as a natural consequence of yard, sidewalk curves,
etc.
This is really no big deal. A sq ft is a sq ft.
I 'draw' the shape with Excel. Each square is a foot...
(Recall, I have the whole yard, house trees, on a 1x1 grid, using Excel. Was
very easy... just took a little time. But like the net or gardening, is a
little addictive.)
I select sections, Draw a square, etc, Wrie what i put in it, or draw an oval
or circle, shade it green, and name it.
Formulas and data can be hidden behind the picture.
These can link to a database like Access, or BE a database (with some limit,)
themselves.
Point is, I must generally look at the "triangle" and count the squares
manually. Not too hard tho. Just once, when I was selecting a fancy shape
for a garden hottub shed house, and was constrained to 10x12, but 120 sq ft
was more appealing and I was working with 120 squares to count, some were 1/3
square, some 3/4s, but that was rare, and I just typed a number in each
square. I truth, I could give them a value, up to 1, and let Excel add them
up.
This is BASIC stuff.
If You have Excel, or probably a competing spreadsheet, I can help.
Do NOT pay $300 for Excel. THAT should buy you Office PRO (which has Access
too.) BUT, find a flea market nad you can get it new for `$75, the Whole
Office. Word, Excel, Access and the other Compost.
