*How about 50% shade cloth. If too hot, a 2GPH mister from a drip system, for
moisture they require, but ON the cloth, for evaporation also.
---------------
*Example (But no narrative in this particular DB, just numbers, tho' itt
extends to...
Wonderful washington DC!
% sun, july63
Days of growing season 225
Rain 26in
Here's a good one.
Days of Rain 66
(Too bad they don't have the actual season
deliniated, as I.)
Last Frost 3-2.
First Frost 11-9
(These are affected by your fencing and winds to some
degree... say 2-5 degrees, and sun, mulch tempers it,
using a cold frame...color of the wall behind it by 1 degree, etc.)
M HI/Lo Temps, by month:
J 44-29
F 46-29
M 54-36 G/9 Very last portion of month Color Coded Green
A 66-46 G
M 76-56 G
J 83-65 G
J 87-69 G Somewhere between here is 225 days.
A 85-68 G
S 79-61 G
O 68-50 G
N 57-39 G/3 First third of month Colored Coded Green.
D 46-30
Frankly, while numbers are nice, automatically having it
graphed for you is a whole ton better. I'd never give
up the numbers... but the graph shows you if it's a
sudden trend that's easy to spot and never dithers,
or something gradual but very certain. You need both.
When I paint in Nov and Dec, I watch the dew point.
Never could hope to via numbers. But plug the
numbers in, and I can see if I'm approaching it gradually,
or like gangbusters, and won't have the 4Hr
(depending on paint) "Window of opportunity" I require.
Same here.
I can se if the rains will just stop, after following
a pattern... Or will fade away slowly. Is it my
imagination the soil is wetter than last year?
I can look and say almost for certain. (Gypsum will
be of some help here, and is cheap.)
And plot all this under what WilliamWeatherman
on WWW.TV says, or WeatherLab or what ever your
browser uses, (If they don't switch... then Follow Them
or use both "stations" to track, one may be better
for your area) and plot it under last years data,
and graph them together. Looking back and forth
between graph to see if you are a hair above or
below or tracking last year is totally futile.
Eyestrain and poor results will occur. You'll not
have the definitive answer, or even be useably close,
w/o great effort. Paper is fine. DON'T not do it
for lack of a computer!!! Colored pencils also.
