Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Yes, Sandie, this was very helpful. Thanks.
I had just been sitting here about to decide I needed to buy some little
space heater or something because I DO want to put the sprouts in the
garage (that's where I have the room), when I decided to check my mail
again tonight.
I had thought about lights for additional heat, but had sorta veered away
from that, thinking perhaps it wouldn't be enough. I actually have several
lights that would do, too, in addition to the fluorescents. The plastic is
a great idea -- not sure that was in my thinking, tho I now remember
someone mentioning they had a setup like that from last time around. I've
got plastic, too. And a little thermometer I can put in there.
I appreciated the electric blanket idea (thanks to those of you who
suggested it), but I don't have one and can't exactly see buying one for
this. Maybe a heater mat, but even that I'd prefer not to buy, at least at
this time.
Good point about germination. I wasn't too concerned about that -- I had no
germination problems last fall, and planned to sprout things in the house
as I did then. But I'll check the germination temps and see what new ideas
I might get there. Aren't those temps usually for soil temperature rather
than air temp?
Hehe. I might be able to do this after all. Thanks!
Oh, almost forgot -- tomatoes and peppers starts come later. Last year we
direct seeded melons successfully enough and will probably do so again.
Thanks again!
